The French Way, or Camino Francés, is an enduring monument steeped in a thousand years of history and spiritual significance. It remains the most cherished route, having been immortalized in culture and film. This pilgrimage offers powerful cultural enrichment alongside a profound spiritual dimension, leading directly to the resting place of Saint James, one of Jesus Christ’s original apostles. Embrace the legacy as you step into the captivating region of Galicia, where the Way truly comes alive.
Your route winds through serene landscapes, passing beneath the canopy of ancient oak woodlands and the fragrant air of eucalyptus forests, connecting you with charming Galician hamlets. The physical rewards are matched by the culinary pleasures: along the way, you’ll indulge in the region’s renowned red and white wines, savor the freshest seafood that the Atlantic coastline provides, and sample exquisite artisanal cheeses. You can look forward to enjoying these culinary delights daily, as we handle nearly every meal and provide specialized recommendations for our favorite, authentic local restaurants for the remaining options.
All accommodations are selected with meticulous care, prioritizing their proximity to the Camino, their authentic charm, and the high quality of service they provide. Wherever possible, we feature small, character-filled rural farmhouses or manor houses. These welcoming venues function much like traditional bed and breakfasts, offering an immersive stay in houses typical of the region, proudly run by local families. On occasion, we utilize comfortable hotels, ensuring you benefit from a varied experience of high-quality lodging throughout your walk.
This fully supported tour ensures your planning is entirely stress-free. We meticulously arrange all hotel stays, handle restaurant reservations, coordinate checkpoints, and manage daily luggage transport. Your singular focus can be the path beneath your feet and the steps you take towards your goal. LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY
This part of the Camino is very well marked and follows mainly forest trails, paths between villages and some secondary roads. While it is certainly not a mountainous region, Galicia is never flat. You will be walking up and down a lot, so a reasonable level of fitness is necessary. The distances we plan for you are the same as the typical stages of the Camino.
